Clashes between riot police and so-called “anti-authoritarians” erupted in Athens on Wednesday evening, when a group of antifa protesters marched towards the headquarters of extreme-right Golden Dawn in Mesogion avenue.athens antifa protest

The clashes started when 2,500-3,000 (The numbers at the demonstration we in the tens of thousands) people left the antifa protest outside the Greek Parliament and started marching towards the GD HQ.  The police blocked main Athens avenues to prohibit the march and the protesters started to throw stones and molotov cocktail bombs at police.

Ever since the murder of Fyssas, the Ministry of Citizen Protection and the Justice Ministry has launched a hunt, collecting witnesses and GD victims testimonies – among others from former and current Golden Dawn members –  to prove that the party elected to the Parliament in June 2012 is a “criminal organization.”

  1. You write some inaccuracies causing a lot of misinformation. Is this intentional? Because there were many major political and goverment meanings about the type of the demonstration…
It was the most people and political forces the one who marched towards the GD HQ (25.000 to 50,000 people). The photo shows only a portion. And only a few people from parliamentary left political parties remained at Syntagma Square. The crowd of the march (it was a long distance) was in peaceful moods and indeed only a small part of young anti-authoritarians attacked with stones and Molotov cocktails at police fence just before GD HQ. This gave rise to the police to attack and disperse throughout the demonstration making arrests and beatings until late at night (away from the site of initial conflicts). http://www.ertopen.com/media/k2/items/cache/4cc1b9d399bd098ab69a760d72b877f9_L.jpg

    • this a reblogged post from a reliable source. but it sounds like you miunderstood. The numbers we’re obviously a lot higher than 2500-3000. That is in reference to the number of anti-authoritarians and those who we’re involved in “clashes”. BAI did not report this. This is what we shared coming from “keep talking greece”. Which from everything we’ve heard and checked around is reliable.

      • I noticed later the reblogged thing. Be careful about the reliability of the source because it’ s a shame for anyone to play other games with these matters (neonazism, murders…). The main body of the people of demostration inteded to march against the the GD HQ (3.5km distance) and did so. The goverment, that all these years covered the GD bloody attacks (hunders against immigrands with 1-2 dead people before Greek Paulos Fyssas), tried the day before to warn that this march is irresponsible and dangerous for the “democracy”. So the left party “SYRIZA” obeyed and called the protest to remain outside the Greek Parliament but a few people did so…

The “Clashes between riot police and so-called “anti-authoritarians” erupted in Athens on Wednesday evening, when a group of antifa protesters marched towards the headquarters of extreme-right Golden Dawn in Mesogion avenue.” and “The clashes started when 2,500-3,000 (The numbers at the demonstration we in the tens of thousands) people left the antifa protest outside the Greek Parliament and started marching towards the GD HQ” isn’t misunderstanding, it is misinformation.
A couple of thousand people remained outside the Greek Parliament and a couple of ten thousand people marched the 3.5km way towards the GD HQ.
