From the Black Riders Liberation Party, Oakland chapter
Childbirth wisdom is for the people!
Comrade Ma’at Ra of the Black Riders Liberation Party [BLRP] is training as an ICTC full-circle doula and is a staunch student of natural health and wellness. She will be sharing information with the commun(e)ity about healthy prenatal care, to uplift our birth outcomes. We as a community will be coming together to discuss the state of emergency that our birth outcomes are in.
(A Doula is a non-medical support person who provides advice, information, emotional support, and physical comfort to a mother and family before, during, and after the birth.)
Currently, the infant mortality rate for black babies is 14 per 1,000, compared to 5 per 1,000 for white babies, 3 per 1,000 for asian babies ad 6-9 per 1,000 for indigenous/latino (“hispanic”) babies.
(We honor them, and may they all rest in peace.)
To prevent infant mortality one must look at past and present day society. We will discuss where we have been, where we are now and where we must go as a community to better our birth outcomes and better our family systems.
BRLP Black Commune Program
“K: We ride for full medical attention that should be given to black people.
We ride because we believe that Amerikkan capitalist economics is to blame for the high rates of disease in the black community. Black people suffering from life threatening ailments like aids should no longer be left to the mercy of low budget county hospitals.
For whatever illness any member of the black community suffers, the federal government is obligated to send them to medical institutions that provide the best treatment.”
The colonization and the capitalization of the medical industrial complex has turned birth into a scary feared event, a “time sensitive” event. Has brought us farther away form the spirituality of birth, and has taken us farther away form our native practices. Childbirth is a special time for the mother and the father to prepare for the welcoming of this gift.
Our native civilizations’ traditions had all family members knowing basic childbirth wisdom. We bout to bring that back!
We will be offering free pregnancy tests and refreshments, as well.
ALL POWER TO THE PEOPLE WHO DON’T FEAR FREEDOM!
The Childbirth Education, Building Family Wellness Class will be held:
