Egyptian Political Prisoner Hanady Ahmad Handcuffed During Surgery

Hanady Ahmad, detained in Al Abadeya prison in the north of Egypt, is handcuffed in bed and under extreme custody in hospital after she had an operation removing the appendix and was still anesthetized.

The physician advised she must stay in the ICU to follow her deteriorating condition after the prison administration refused to let her have the operation earlier, yet the prison van came to the hospital and took the patient back to her prison cell !

Hanady was detained on 24 December 2013 from inside Azhar University and sentenced to 5-years imprisonment and a LE 100,000 fine.

She was moved to Al Abadeya prison after the accident in Al Qanater prison and was put in criminals’ cell. She is visited by no one for her father is dead and her mother is on a wheel chair.

Hanady was fired from her college weeks ago.
